Parent to Be

Pregnancy by Trimester

The journey of pregnancy can be so beautiful and exciting, but it can also be challenging and overwhelming. Your body is amazing and is growing a beautiful human inside! During pregnancy, many changes are occurring to the body and the development of baby. A pregnancy is divided into three trimesters and during each stage something new and exciting is happening with baby.

Whether you are pregnant, engaging a surrogate, fostering or adopting, the journey of pregnancy is beautiful and exciting.

First Trimester | Weeks 0 – 13

The first trimester is the most crucial to your baby's development. During this period, your baby's body structure and organ systems begin to develop.

Second Trimester | Weeks 14 – 27

The second trimester of pregnancy marks a turning point for mommy and fetus. Mommy usually begins to feel better around this time and will start showing the pregnancy more. The fetus has now developed all of its organs and systems and will now focus on growing in size and weight.

Third Trimester | Weeks 28 – 40

By the third trimester you will most likely be very excited and anxious to finally meet your baby. During the third trimester, the fetus continues to develop and grow in size and weight. By now the fetus can see and hear.

From first to third trimester, baby...

At about 4 months you will hear a sound so sweet, for it will be the baby's heartbeat.

As baby develops in the womb you will start to feel and see little baby kicks and movements.

While baby develops in the womb, they can hear everything around them so sing, talk and read to your baby.

Self-Care

Pregnancy is a beautiful journey filled with so many different emotions. We tend to get caught up in all things baby and it can be overwhelming. It is important for new (and experienced) parents to protect and nurture their own well-being as rest, nutrition and physical wellness are crucial to good health!
